1. OFFICIAL TOURISM WEBSITE
One of the best ways to maximize any trip is to visit the tourism website of your destination to get ongoing and upcoming events, economical passes, and other tourist related discounts.

To get information on ongoing and upcoming events and more information

They also have apps you can download for free to facilitate your visit. 

2. OCTOPUS CARD:
Get an octopus card to make train travel easier. It is a prepaid card you can even use at several stores like 711, Starbucks, and many more. You won't need to get a ticket every time you ride the train. This will save you a lot of time.

Cost: Standard Octopus: Adult Deposit HK $ 50; Initial Stored Value: HK$100; They also have a On-loan Octopus card which holds no deposit and left balance is refundable. You’ll have to pay a refundable deposit to cover card cost
Where to Get it: Get at MTR Customer Service Centers, Light Rail   Customer Service Centers, First Ferry Customer & Octopus Service Center.

3. PREPAID SIM CARD: You can save on your roaming data charges by availaing of the Discover Hong Kong Tourist Sim Card. It allows 4G mobile data, unlimited CSL wifi usage, unlimited local voice calls, and preloaded with HK$30/HK$48 for calls and texts abroad. It is also rechargeable for upt to 180 days. Buy  at thee airport arrival hall or in many stores including 7-Eleven and Circle K convenience stores.

Make sure you’re phone is open line to be able to use the sim card.

Cost: Prepaid sim card HK$88 (5 days) ; HK$188 (8 day)
Available at: 5/F of the Hong Kong International Airport Arrival Hall, more than 1,000 7-Eleven, Circle K or VanGO convenience stores, csl or HKT shops, and the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s Kowloon Visitor Centre at the Star Ferry Concourse in Tsim Sha Tsui

4. BRING A REUSABLE BAG. They charge for plastic in supermarkets and 711 stores.
