Lavenders & Mt Fuji at Lake Kawaguchiko

Lake Kawaguchiko is great to visit on any season. Just about 2 hours from Japan by train, there are many spots you can enjoy to view cherry blossoms, lavenders, maple leaves, and Mt. Fuji. 






There are many good spots to view Mt. Fuji are from the observation deck at the Kachi Kachi Ropeway, the Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center (bus stop #22 on the red line). 


Fields of Lavender at Oishi Park



The Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center also known as Oishi Park just held the Kawaguchiko Herb Festival. Here you can view the majestic Mt Fuji in front of fields of lavender. They also have a gift shop and café where you can purchase Kawaguchiko & Mt. Fuji souvenirs. You can also harvest fruits from June to August. You can enjoy blueberries and peaches. You can also get close to the Lake.

The Yagizaki Park is a good spot to visit in the summer when the fields are in full bloom. You can also see many beautiful azaleas. The Kawaguchiko Muse Museum is beside the gift shop at the end of Yagizaki Park. You also get a great view of Mt. Fuji from the look out spot near the gift shop. 

The Herb Festival ended a few days when we visited Yagizaki Park. We were able to watch them harvest the lavender.

In spring, some of the best places to see Mt. Fuji with cherry blossoms are also in Nagasaki Park.

You can conveniently explore the Kawaguchiko area by using the sightseeing buses. You can get a 2 day unlimited pass for the Kawaguchiko Sightseeing Bus (Red line) &    Saiko Sightseeing Bus (Green line) lines for Y1200. You can purchase a pass too for the blue line if you’d like to explore more of the Fuji Five Lakes area. You can purchase this at the ticket office at the Kawaguchiko Train Station. You can ride the buses from the designated bus stops just right outside the train station. All you need to do is show your pass when getting off the bus. The bus doesn't stop unless someone is getting on or getting off at the designated stop. You’ll need to press the button on the bus if you intended to get off at the next stop. Pass size is same as the JR Pass.
