Day trip from Tokyo: Lake Kawaguchiko & Mt Fuji

One of the best places to admire Mt. Fuji is from Kawaguchiko. From Tokyo, it’s about 2-3 hours depending on the trains you take. The fastest route is by taking the limited express JR Chuo Line to Otsuki then taking the Fujisan Express to Kawaguchiko.

FUJI-Q
You can also spend a day on thrilling rides on the Fuji-Q-Highlands. It’s a popular amusement park on the foot of Mt. Fuji. Ride it’s rollercoasters and other thrilling rides with a view the iconic mountain. Get off at Fuji Q Highland Station.

Entrance: 1500 (admission only)/5,700 ticket & 1 day free pass for adults.


KACHI-KACHI ROPEWAY

A good spot to view the beauty of Mt. Fuji is from the view deck of on top of the Kachi Kachi Ropeway. You get amazing views of Lake Kawaguchiko as the gondola of the cable ropeway goes up. If you’re lucky you can spot a monkey on the trees on the mountain side. During the spring, you can also see beautiful cherry blossoms in the area.

Make sure to stop by Fujiyama Cookie. They have good cookies in the shape of Mt. Fuji. You can also purchase them at the Kawaguchiko train station.

How to get there: From Kawaguchiko Station: Take Bus to Kachi Kachi Ropeway at Bus Stop #1. 



OISHI PARK & YAGIZAKI PARK

A beautiful park that celebrates the Kawaguchiko Herb Festival in the summer. It has an amazing view of Mt. Fuji against the Lavender and flower fields. It is currently happening in Yagizaki Park until July 10 and Oishi Park until the 18th.

To Get There:
Oishi Park: from Kawaguchiko Station take Red line of Fujikyu Bus to Stop #22 Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center Bus Stop or take the Retro Bus and get off at last stop –the Kawaguchiko Shizen Seikatsukan.

Yagizaki Park : take Green line or Retro Bus to #6 Yagizaki Bus Stop
