DAY TRIP FROM CHIANG MAI: DOI ITHANON
9:53 PMAnother day trip you can take from Chiang Mai is a visit to Doi Ithanon. A national park, the Doi Ithanon is the highest peak in Thailand and takes about 2 hrs from the city.
One of the stops to the peak is the Wachirathan Waterfall. You can view the falls in several look outs.
Go down the stairs on the right side to see this view of the waterfalls. The spot on the right to get you closer to the water is a little more slippery and has more mist.
At the summit, there are two monuments dedicated to the King and Queen of Thailand. There is an escalator the sides to reach the top if you prefer not take the stairs up to the beautiful gardens.
It’s worth the walk up to see the beautiful view.
